Name: Melody Jacobs
Code Name: Threnody
Affiliation: None
Residence: Brotherhood
Place of Birth: Los Angeles
Age: 18
Grade Level: 12
Personality: Threnody is pretty much your classic tough chick for the most part. Having gone through alot in her life, she developed something of an attitude and learned to take care of herself exceedingly well. Strong and confident, with a dark past that haunts her. Her attitude of course rather successfully masks the side of her that is ultimately a scared girl looking in need of help.
Description: Brown hair, brown eyes, 5'6, 127lbs.

Mutant Ability: Empathic - She is able sense and feed on the emotions and even 'death energy' of others and store the energy within her. She is able to focus this energy and unleash it in powerful blasts of energy.
History: Not much is known about Threnody's life before she acquired her mutant powers, but from the moment they manifested her life has been nothing but a nightmare. Wandering the streets of Los Angeles and overwhelmed by the sudden bursts of energy from the recently passed was causing her to go insane. Every time someone in the city passed she would hear their confusion, rage, fear, blissfulness; whatever their last feelings had been would well up inside her and force themselves loose in a distructive blast that usually left her dazed and exhausted, as well as utterly confused.
Hydra was able to follow Threnody's movements and keep them quieted in order to prevent Professor Xavier's interference. After her file was complete Hydra just had to wait until the next blast, and kidnapped her in her weakened state, and so they did.
At Hydra several scientists worked hard to keep the girl sane. They held her in a containtment unit that canceled out the blasts entirely and thus forceomg her to keep the emotions inside, causing Threnody to dance around the edge of insanity toward the end of her containment. Finally Deborah Risman couldn't take the girls screaming any longer and took the only break in the history of her weapon X project to alter the containment technology into several chips placed on Threnody's face to let her control the bursts level of energy upon releasing them.
Threnody stayed in the same containment cell, but the chips on her face allowed her to let out small bursts at different intervals to put off the strain on her body. The small bursts were no match for the cell walls holding her captive. Finally tired of being a lab rat, Threnody let the walls holding her captive have it, using the engeries stored up on them, frying one of the chips controlling her powers for her during the escape.
For the next six months Threnody evaded Hydra's attempts to recapture her with only a few close calls when her powers acted up, due to the dead chip that had fried during her escape. One close call would have meant a nice reunion with her former home, the cold white cell at Hydra, but she was rescued by an almost equally out of control Nate. By the end of the fight Nate was in control enough to plant images of Threnody dying into the few remaining Hydra operatives.
As a year passed,Threnody realized she had more in common with Nate Gray than just letting loose with destructive and sometimes deadly results. Threnody had been Nate's only companion since he'd left boarding school and the two grew very close.Threnody became pregnant within a matter of months.
Threnody knew their child would be a mutant, and knew that their baby would grow up in the harsh world, she wasn't set on keeping the baby, however, Nate was dead set on keeping the child. He told Threnody if she refused to raise the child he would take it as his own responsibility, and this drove Threnody to use the last four months of her pregnancy concentrating her powers in a way that would block Nate's telepathy out
Nate brought Threnody to the hospital when she went into labor and on her wishes took off to make sure Hydra didn't locate her during the birth. When the baby was born Threnody gave the child up to social services believing it was the best possible thing for the child. She could not imagine how she and Nate, with their history of loosing control so violently, could be suitable to raise a child. Upon returning to Nate she told him she had lost the child in labor.
The weeks following their lost child, as it had been lost from both parents points of view, brought the end of their relationship. Though Nate never found out that their baby was in fact alive, he did break things off with her, claiming that something between them was off. Threnody's response to this was an angry one, and Nate was not ready for it.
Wanting nothing to do with the father of her child, she never contacted him or even try to learn of his wereabouts.
Threnody has not since contacted Nate or even acquired to his whereabouts, wanting nothing to do with him or anything else reminding her of the child.
Threnody has come to bayville, unaware that Nate was there. She has, for the moment at least, joined up with the Brotherhood.

Melody looked out her window in the brotherhood home, which was located a little out of the way from everything. Everyone. The emotions of her new team mates were driving her crazy. So much hate was filled in the mansion, and she needed to find away to release the engery, knowing that afterwards she'd be a little weak, but she didn't care so long as she was able to put off some strain the emotions ran on her body.
Throwing a coat on, Melody left the brotherhood home in search of a place away from it all. Away from all the people and their mixed up emotions that drove her mad. Walking away from the town and into the woods, miles away from people, Melody was finally able to relax a little.
Melody rested on a tree until around sunset. It had been peacefull, and she didn't want to return to the maddness which was her new life with the brotherhood, but she knew she had to, for it was growing dark.
With her day of relaxing, her mind had wondered back to Nate, a past lover, and the father to the baby she'd given up without his knowing. She'd missed him, but knew they could never be again. A few tears had managed to find their way down her checks that afternoon.
It was around midnight before she returned back to the brotherhood, and everyone was asleep. She walked to her room and shut her door. Thanks to them being asleep she wasn't bombaded with their emotions. Melody sat on her window seal and just looked out into the skies, thinking of Nate and their lost fortue, soon falling asleep.
